Privacy and Data Use Statement

Miticide Efficacy Under Commercial Conditions Project

Data Storage and Retention

Each time you submit data via our online forms, they are transmitted between your device to our database in the Open Data Kit (ODK) Central Server hosted by BinaryLane in Sydney and fully managed by our NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) Digital Agriculture team. TLS is utilised for all data transmissions.

What we store: We will not store personally identifiable information (PII) other than GPS coordinates for the yard locations that you provide in the database in the ODK Central Server. Your name and contact information will not be associated with your submitted data.

We will store the unique participant code that you received at the start of this survey to dissociate submissions from your PII.

Records of your participant code, name, email, and phone number will be stored separately from the ODK Central Server in the NSW DPIRD SharePoint Server so we can contact you if we need clarification on any data that you provide. Only NSW DPIRD staff implementing this project will have access to this information.

Non-identified data will be removed from the ODK Central Server and archived in the NSW DPIRD SharePoint Server. Record of your contact information will be deleted from the NSW DPIRD SharePoint Server within 12 months of project completion.

Data Usage

The data you provide will be used for research purposes and anonymised reporting. We will analyse the data for trends in miticide efficacy. Any information (i.e. yard location, off-label treatment practices) that you provide will not be used in a compliance action.

Publication and sharing: Reports will be generated based on the results of this project and shared publicly. Results may also be presented in industry magazines, online websites, email newsletters, conference presentations, among other educational materials, and may form part of a scientific journal publication. Your name will not appear in any publicly shared materials.

Although yard location will be stored in our database as you enter it in the provided forms, we will never share exact GPS location or address with anyone other than DPIRD staff implementing this project. We will use the location(s) that you provide to find the nearest weather station(s) for collection of historical weather data to help understand potential factors influencing miticide efficacy. Yard location will only be reported generally in maps or written text to support interpretation of project results.
